William Carey College


William Carey College, private, coeducational institution in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Founded in 1906 as Mississippi Woman`s College, the school became coeducational in 1954 and was renamed in honor of the 18th-century linguist William Carey. The school is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Church ( "see "Baptists). The college confers bachelor`s and master`s degrees in a broad range of fields. It offers courses of study in the liberal arts, the arts and sciences, the fine arts, studio art, business administration and management, education, physical education, engineering, health sciences, medical technology, radiology, theological studies, music, and performing arts.
