Rozwi Empire or Changamire

Rozwi Empire or Changamire, empire in southeastern Africa. The Rozwi empire was located south of the Zambezi River and was centered on the stone city of Great Zimbabwe. It replaced the gold-trading empire of Mutapa from the 17th century. The Rozwi empire survived until the mfecane (great migrations) of the 1830s, when overpopulation to the south drove the Nguni and Ndebele people northward into Rozwi territory in search of more land.
